Ed and Al Chart!

Whew! This is still on the DL, but I'm knitting my friend Joe a scarf for his birthday in February, based around FullMetal Alchemist. I finished the main chunk of scarf yesterday and worked on a pattern for one side of the scarf. A loooong time ago I made a FullMetal Alchemist chart with one of the symbols in case I wanted to use it for something for Joe, and then it kind of fell by the wayside.

Well, now it's back! So, here's my newest design, based off of this image. I left out the spikes for now because I think it'll make the image look messy, and I didn't tell Steve anything about what chart I'd made and sent him a picture, and he said he knew what it was right away. That's a good sign :)

The image will actually have Al (the robot) being white, and Ed (guy in center) being black or red. The scarf itself is black, which is why I'll have to change the colors. I suppose I could even make Al gray, as he IS gray, but I didn't think it would *POP* enough.

Legend of Zelda Scarf

I knit this on size 8 wooden circulars, CO between 60-70 stitches, not 100% sure how many, but Link is almost 30 stitches, so at minimum it's 60. I knit the scarf to about 70", and then duplicate stitched the images on. As seen from the previous post, I very heavily modified a couple charts, and I made up the Navi chart. The triforce is everywhere, so I don't feel I owe any one person credit. This was incredibly fun, and I think it turned out really good. My only real complaint is my own guage issue; otherwise, I love it and plan on wearing it all winter!

Zelda and Link chart

Okay, so for a game that has been around FOREVER there are hardly any charts out there for Zelda-related things. As with other projects I have no charts for, I turned to cross-stitch images to glean my own version of the pattern. Here is my heavily edited version of Link and Zelda and a heart piece:

Nerdiness ahoy!

Okay, I FINALLY am able to post these pics. I made this Moogle wall hanging for Steve for his birthday, because he loved the scarf but didn't end up wearing it much this winter and therefore didn't get to show it off much. The scarf is currently acting as a decoration so we can still admire the characters. I wanted to take it a step further and simply make a knitted "poster." Here are the results:

As with the wall hanging I decided to just knit the giant square and duplicate stitch the image on. It was very time-consuming doing this, but also very rewarding. However, I didn't think ahead about the fact that I was using large needles and knitting the background loosely, so duplicate stitching wouldn't turn out as crisp and tight as I would have liked. All in all though, it came out quite nicely. I made the pattern from looking at an image of another project as there doesn't seem to be any patterns out there!

I knit it back and forth on size 9 wooden circulars so my wrists wouldn't hurt as much as the square became heavier, and i just used a needle to duplicate stitch the image.

OMG YES AMAZING SCARF

My boyfriend wanted a scarf, and we found the patterns for four Final Fantasy characters here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=24547.0
However, she knit hers flat, and with cabling. I chose to knit the entirety of the scarf on circulars and then duplicate stitch the images and blocks on. While time-consuming, this project was extremely rewarding! I used acrylic yarn, but double-thick it is incredibly warm. It was my first try at duplicate stitch and I'm incredibly proud of myself.
Knit on size 8 circulars, 6 feet long, acrylic yarn.

This was supposed to be a ladder scarf but I purposely made it bigger and it's definitely more of a shawl. It was fun and easy, and pulling the dropped stitches was incredibly satisfying. I have yet to block it, though, and I made the ends too tight. I'd definitely do this project again.

Another long post

I made some Horde armwarmers for Dan.
The first is obviously the Horde symbol (which I think I did great on, by the way), and the second is from the Icon of Torment for the Forsaken. Dan made the pattern up himself. I think it probably would have turned out better had the main blue not been cotton. I made the images patches because I used much smaller needles than for the warmers.

Secondly, while out on another venture I discovered a LYS - the first ACTUAL LYS I've ever seen. I snatched up two skeins of Noro Silk Garden!! I'm making a ladder scarf with it and should be done later today.
